God vs gods and goddesses Mahatma Gandhi once said that he was a Hindu, but he said that he was also a Muslim, a Christian, a Buddhist, and a Jew and he ended the quote by saying that we all are. And that got me thinking about how can Gandhi and I and everyone else, believe in all of those religions? How are we all a Hindu, Muslim, Christian, Buddhist, and a Jew? To figure out the meaning behind this quote I focused on only two religions. I will be comparing and contrasting Hinduism and Christianity. Even though they have very little in common, Hinduism and Christianity are a lot more alike than most people think because they both have higher being that they believe in and it is a faith for people to follow and do something instead of not believing in anything and not having a purpose. Well, believe it or not, but Hinduism follows their own trinity, which is made up of, the three gods, Shiva, Krishna, and Brahma. They are more alike when you think of the father is compared towards Brahma, the creator, and the Krishna compared to the son, preserver of creation and lastly Shiva compared to the holy spirit the end of creation. In a small way, they are more alike. Swami Vivekananda has related Hinduism to Christianity by saying a quote about Hinduism, “Feel nothing, know nothing, do nothing, have nothing, give up all to God and say utterly, ‘Thy will be done.’ We only dream this bondage. Wake up and let it go.” It relates because holy people in the Christian faith have given up everything and gave themselves to God and his plans. Jesus gave up his life and traveled to tell everyone the word of God. Jesus gave up his life so our sins may be forgiven and we may enter heaven to be with him and
