I have been guilty of using my phone at work before for texting and surfing the internet, but it is a habit I am working on. I think working at a internship, focus is so important so you can provide quality work to your employers, and to do a good job. One simple way is to simply turn off your phone when you arrive to the office so you have no distractions. Green states that taking your work seriously is another good tip while at your internship to avoid making mistakes. Mistakes are inevitable at times, but at a internship, it will affect not only yourself. She made an important point that don’t try to cover it up, or make excuses. Own up and fix it, and tell your boss it won’t happen again and make sure it doesn't. I wholeheartedly agree with this because honesty is the best policy. Asking for advice can help you with future jobs recommendation, future career paths, and any concerns about the internship, I think it's a good tip to use because your coworkers are who you see mostly everyday so I think hearing about their professional experience can help you with yours. I find that when asking coworkers for advice, I usually learn alot from them, which improves the quality of my work down the road. If I’m undecided about my career choices, I think asking for advice can help clarify that. Dressing appropriately is a great tip because impressions are everything. How you present yourself is a reflection of who you are. Certain internships and office environment are different. There are more casual laidback ones, and there are more professional ones. I agree that dressing appropriately helps shows your boss that you are ready to work, and that you take your job seriously. It’s good to observe what your co-workers are wearing and adhere to the dress code. You should dress for the job you want because it sends a good message to your coworkers.
