A few of them include presiding over the daily sessions of the Senate, keep order in the chamber, to state all the parliamentary motions, rule on all parliamentary questions, appoint committee chairs and members, refers bills to the committee, sign the writs and warrants, and they act as the main spokesperson for the House or for the Assembly. The Senate President Pro Templore is the second highest official, after the vice-president. Most of the time, the person in this position is the senior senator of the majority people and also the highest ranking member of the Senate. This position comes with limited power but a number of responsibilities. They have many responsibilities which include meeting with the opposing parties whips to set the agenda and sort out all the procedural details. Secondly, they come up with a list of members who would like to speak on behalf of proposed laws and then give this to the Speaker or the President. Lastly, they have to make sure that all party members vote as a team and attend all meetings. These things are just a few examples of the many responsibilities that they have.
