Hours A Veterinary Assistant does not work as long as the Veterinarian. A Veterinary Assistant’s hours can be anywhere from 10-24 hours. It just depends on the day. For example, if there is a big operation that will take a long time. A Veterinary Assistant would have to stay and help the Veterinarian. But, if there are no appointments scheduled, it will probably only be about 10-12 hours. A Veterinary on average will work anywhere from 45-60 hours a week. It’s hard work, but you know you are helping make animals happy and healthy!

You have to prescribe medication for the animals and fill their prescriptions. During procedure’s you have to restrain the animals from wiggling or trying to get up. You also get to monitor the animal’s after procedure. For example, if a pet just got a very important surgery the animal could have many effects from it like drowsy, not want to eat or drink, very hyper, etc. Another very important responsibility of a Veterinarian Assistant it to assist the Veterinarian in examining or a surgery. You have to know all the right tools when they ask for them. A Veterinarian assistant may have many responsibilities and duties, but in the end you know you are making animals happier and healthier. So to me it is definitely worth
