Beowulf is a hero born into greatness. He is capable of deed of great strength and courage. He is a national hero and is also the greatest warrior to live.
Beowulf has done great things to help people in need. Beowulf saves the Danes from Grendel when no one could. “people gather from far and wide to praise Beowulf’s mighty deed.” Word about Grendel spread by sailors to the land of the Geats where Beowulf stays. The wisest people have sent Beowulf to aid Hrothgar and to stop Grendel. Beowulf was challenged to kill Grendel and he does it with no weapons or armor. “ one of Hrothgar’s thanes or pledged warriors, named Unferth challenges Beowulf doubting that he can best Grendel.” Unferth is one of Hrothgars soldiers. He swam at night , and ran around the world hunting monsters. Beowulf chooses to go to where Grendel’s mother lives and kill her there for revenge. “ Beowulf agrees to fight Grendels maker, “ this lady monster” and to avenge the death of Aeschere.
