Looking back before The Affordable Care Act (ACA) was made available, Americans were denied access to certain insurance companies because of a current illness they had or if they were too old. Either Americans were denied access or their health care insurance premiums sky rocketed. President Obama came up with the ACA to help low-income Americans have access to cheaper health care, even if it meant to have some people not agree with his decision. ACA has nine titles that contain crucial information on what the ACA entitles (HealthCare.gov, 2013).

Since the population has access to affordable insurance, more individuals will comes to hospitals to get checked out. Having access to free preventative screenings will push the population to want to go to the hospital since now it is covered by the ACA. The second title: the role of public programs, will allow me to be able to take care of an increased amount of patients that have taken their medications religiously, since the drug prescription costs are cheaper. Patients will be more in control of their health conditions and stabilize it better, rather than be off their medications. Title three: improving the quality and efficiency of health care plays a huge part in my nursing profession. I am a professional and need to take my job seriously to ensure that all my patients remain safe, stable, and risk-free. By me improving how I am taking care of my patients, it will ensure that the he/she will have little to no complications during the stay which will lead to fewer days spend in the hospital. For example, I check my patients constantly for pressure ulcers and deep vein thrombosis (DVT). This allows me to make sure that I am preventing further complications from happening during his/her stay. Quality of care is extremely important, therefore, I have to be there for the patient at the bedside communicating with them effectively. Title four: prevention of chronic disease and improving public health, affects health care by nurses helping set up preventative care appointments. Title five: health care workforce, affects my nursing job by allowing me to go back to school for higher education. Hospitals have access to more grants provided by the American Nursing Association for more health care professions to get the required education they need (HealthCare.gov, 2013). Title
