How are strategies for the conservation and sustainable use of medicinal plants being used by small communities and traditional healers in some developing countries?
Small communities in developing countries often use tractional medicines because they are more affordable and more accepted than western medicine. These traditional medicines are made out of medical plants native to the area. They make this process sustainable by only using parts of the plant (11). When small parts of plants are used to make traditional medicines many of the plants continue to survive and prosper. When creating the natural remedies people in these communities can make sure they don't kill the plant when harvesting what they need, much like taking the sap from a tree (11).
