A nurse should be aware of laparoscopic cholecystectomy’s complications during Joan’s stay in the ward, these includes internal bleeding, deep vein thrombosis, dehydration, urinary retention, paralytic ileus, and surgical site infection. Joan should be under observation and getting nursing care until discharge criteria is met. After-visit summery is completed by surgeon which contains prescriptions, detailed home instructions, contact details and follow-up appointment information.
