Experience in the provision of disability services to people with a diverse range of disabilities
I got the opportunity to do different roles in different positions within ADHC. I started my career as a Support worker (permanent position) to assist disable clients with their personal care needs. I used to reconcile their expenses, account statements, rent payment by service users, to reconcile expenses and income (money approved by ADHC) according to ADHC guideline and, to make report on Acquittals and petty cash while working in the office as an account officer. I used to keep records of the Acquittals sent to ADHC by the different non–profit organizations

The barriers are depending upon the types and degree of the disability. The mobility disability, hearing loss, vision problem, psychological, cognitive (short term memory, problem –solving, attention and /or reading etc) and intellectual. When barriers are not possible to remove fully then make modification with the normal setting. For example, if a particular class or office is not accessible by the learner being in the wheelchair then, the officer finds an alternative class or spot to meet clients’ requirements. Provide clear access to the class or in the class if the student is using a wheelchair. Provide modified computer or install additional software (voice sensitive which transcribe verbal communication into written transcript, “JAWS” helps vision impaired student to read documents, etc) which suits their disability needs and the type of support. The main benefit of the assistive technology is to reduce barriers and make the life of the students with disability at ease.
There are different techniques and technologies to assist student with disability/ ies of all ages. The appropriate technique is the one which suits to their problems, needs, usefulness and minimum assistance needed.
• Microsoft Office WORD, Office POWER- POINT, Microsoft office EXCEL, screen print, and use crop from picture tool and Template are a few common features of the Computer to help the students with disability in organizing their notes. Encourage students with Disability as a support teacher, to use their mobile or camera to take photos and keep class work and workshop work in their record for future reference apart from the notes provided by the support teacher.
• Introduce different feature of an E-book with its benefit and explain how to download E-books in their smart phone.
• For the students are having problem with their motor system and cannot manage mouse or could not use the keyboard to type. In such scenario the “Communication Access Real-time Translation” (CART) is appropriate to translate spoken word into text with the help of stenotype machine and a laptop which is equipped with real-time
