Type I is described as a delay in the electrical signal for three to four beats that are progressively longer and longer with each beat until one signal is completely blocked and the ventricles skip a contraction. "This block usually occurs in…
1. Under GASB standards, agency funds are excluded from the face of the government-wide financial statements. What are agency funds? Agency funds are used to account for assets held for distribution by the government as an agent for another entity for which the government has custodial responsibility and accounts for the flow of assets. For example, the state collects sales tax funds on behalf of a city.…
On November 2nd I attended a presentation given by David Eubank, a former U.S Army Special Forces and Ranger Officer, and an alumnus of Texas A&M University. Currently, he is the director for the Free Burma Rangers (FBR), an organization that offers humanitarian aid to those in the Burma, Kurdistan, and Sudan war zone. While FBR has no religious or racial denomination, David himself is a Christian and believes that his being a follower of Jesus is what has led him to organizing FBR. David emphasized the importance of faith, love, and humility when providing aid to others. FBR has 3 rules for those wanting to join: the first is that, whatever one wants to do, they must do it with love in their heart.…
CCIB received a complaint via phone call from RP stating that he would like to report an incident that occurred at the facility. RP stated that there are 3 boys involved Brian Cooper (9), Tony Belfield (9) and Joe Wilkerson (13). RP reported that Brian has been touched in between his legs by roommate Tony (RP did not have details). RP reported that Tony and Joe have been seen by Brian messing around like they are having sex grinding on each other (RP did not have details). RP also reported that Tony masturbates at night in the bed while Brian is present in the room.…
Yet, PV reconnection continued to occur. I recall as a fellow being told by an attending to “ride the wave,” as I tried to balance the catheter on the left atrial appendage ridge while the patient…
The concept of RP postulates that in the normal cardiac ventricle and conducting system, there are mechanisms that trigger the rapid and systematic repolarization, which prevent the occurrence of the conditions (eg, re-entrant circuits or early afterdepolarizations) that are responsible for the development of TdP. Such stability of the repolarization is based on a large electrophysiological reserve. As long as identified risk factors for TdP reduce this reserve, they make it more likely that a further added stress (eg, IKr blocking drug or a subtle genetic defect) is sufficient to precipitate a TdP in individual patients (Roden, 1998). In this concept, the idea is that the complexity of repolarization includes some redundancy. As a consequence, loss of one component (such as IKr), ordinarily would not lead to failure of repolarization (eg, marked QT prolongation). Therefore, individuals with subclinical defects in other components of the reserve may display no QT change until IKr block is superimposed (De Ponti et al, 2002, Gintant et al, 2006, Roden, 2008, Varro and Baczko,…
An ECG finding that is often seen in patients who did not shudder, is a fine regular oscillation of the baseline, produced by increased muscle tone with an imperceptible…
Atrial Fibrillation is the most common type of arrhythmia. An arrhythmia is an irregular heart rhythm, where the heart beats too fast or too slow. In order to understand what Atrial Fibrillation is it is best to understand the hearts internal electrical system. The hearts internal electrical system controls the rate and rhythm of the heartbeat. With each heartbeat an electrical signal spreads from the top of the heart to the bottom.…
It is common in patients with heart failure (Burke, 2016). Risk factors for atrial fibrillation include: increased age, heart disease, hypertension, other chronic conditions, drinking alcohol and/or binge drinking, obesity, and having a family history of atrial fibrillation. Manifestations of atrial fibrillation include irregular pulses…
At 32 Canadian heart centers, a group of physicians performed a study on the effects between physiologic pacing (dual chamber or atrial) and single chamber pacing (ventricular). The researchers were trying to determine whether the physiologic pacing is superior to the single chamber pacing as previous thought. The way they would determine this is to take a sample of patients that will receive one of the above pace makers and compare the results of atrial fibrillation, stroke, or death due to the heart. The researchers gathered their sample by some specific criteria. A total of 7734 patients received a first pacemaker at one of the 32 participating clinics, of these patients only 4499 qualified to participate.…
Santangeli and Lin isolated the pulmonary veins to recreate a study they researched before. Their study showed more places to get into the heart and different techniques to destroy the heart tissue. Antiarrhythmic drugs, catheter ablation, and cardioversion are the best choice for a rhythm control treatment plan of atrial fibrillation patients…
AF is more frequent in men than women. It occurs when the upper chambers (atria) of the heart beat rapidly and chaotically, which can cause the pulse rate to jump to over 100 beats per minute and interfere with the heart's pumping efficiency. Excessive alcohol, thyroid disease, diabetes, hypertension, obstructive disease of the lungs, underlying heart disease, and valvular heart disease can cause AF. There is an urgent need to create an awareness of the disease as it is not recognized as major health hazard. Health experts state that the condition is common and associated with high morbidity and mortality…
Chest pain? Lightheadedness? Heart palpitations? Can’t catch your breath? You may be experiencing paroxysmal atrial fibrillation.…
Currently, approximately 2.3 million people in the United States are diagnosed with Atrial fibrillation; it is estimated that more than 12 million people will have Atrial fibrillation by the year 2050 (Tedrow et al.,…
1. Brand equity Brand leadership One of the FNB’s core value proposition of entrenching their competitive advantage and increasing their market share has been through their brand appeal together with the experience consistency for its customers as well as the prospective customers. According to Aaker & Joachimsthaler (2012), brand equity is an asset that forms a basis for competitive leadership in the long run. The unique resource base of an organization has a direct influence on its strategy and competitive advantage thereto. Marketing of the brand by the bank therefore plays a critical role.…
