This university is the home of the Morrow Plots, which is the second oldest research plots in the world. The university also has more farm ground outside of campus where they do extensive research that I have gotten the opportunity to assist with. The research that students are doing in agriculture here is benefiting people not only in Illinois, but all over the world. Illinois is one of the biggest, if not the biggest, farming states in the country. This means that the research being done at the university is directly affecting the state. However, we are not the only state or country that has a large agriculture industry. People all over the world are reaping the benefits of the research done by these students. At the University of Illinois, the students are receiving one of the best agricultural education experience possible. Illinois is one of the largest farming states in the country, so the people here already have a solid foundation to build their education off of. When students graduate from here, employers know that they have received an education that will help their company, and as a result make an impact on agriculture overall. The students here also do research in their fields to further the knowledge that the whole world has on the topic. This research is a great contribution to society when it allows other people or even other countries to advance in their agricultural techniques.
My father is someone within my major who has inspired me to continue down this career path and has probably inspired many others as well since he was named one of the 25 most influential people in american agriculture. He has also made significant contributions to the agricultural industry. He has numerous patents that improve corn harvesting and change the way that it has been done in the past. The technology that he has invented has allowed for farmers everywhere to produce more corn and to help the soil
