Alopecia is caused by an autoimmune disorder. If a family member has had this disorder you will have a higher than normal chance to have alopecia. It all depends on the type of alopecia you have. It can happen over time or it can happen instantly. Some types of alopecia are permanent and will stay forever. Other types will just affect a patient for a period of time. Some signs are thinning of hair, patchy bald spots, and sudden loss of hair, loss of eye brows and eye lashes.
A graphic of this disorder can be bold spots on top of head. This is what normally will characterize that disorder. This is the most common aspect that can occur during alopecia.
If you are diagnosed with alopecia, the doctor will go over your signs and symptoms. The doctor will usually perform a series of test like a scalp biopsy. The doctor will also check your blood to make sure that you won’t have other autoimmune diseases.
For alopecia there is no way to prevent it. All you can do is check to see if any of your relatives have had alopecia, lupus, diabetes, and or a thyroid disorder. You can also check with your doctor and ask him to check to see if you might have a chance of developing
