Or art thou but A dagger of the mind, a false creation, Proceeding from the heat-oppressèd brain?” (Shakespeare, 2.1. 37-40). Never shake Thy gory locks at me.“ (Shakespeare, trans 1979, 3.4 55-56). Later, Lady Macbeth starts feeling the guilt of her husband and starts sleepwalking “Wash your hands. Put on your nightgown. Look not so pale.—I tell you yet again, Banquo’s buried; he cannot come out on’s grave.” (Shakespeare , trans 1979, 5.1. 43-45). Assassins sent by Macbeth then go to Macduff’s house to assassinate him, but it turns out Macduff wasn’t there so his family were all brutally murdered. Macduff’s mind is then haunted by the fact he left his wife and children defenseless “My wife and children’s ghosts will haunt me still.” (Shakespeare, trans 1979, 5.1.
