Primarily, space exploration helps make technology that is beneficial for people. John F. Kennedy explains how space exploration is advancing technology that will help people. Joan Vernikos gives reasons why manned space exploration is important for America’s sake. She says, “We need to keep the flame of manned space exploration alive as China, Russia, India, and other countries forge ahead with substantial investments that challenge U.S. leadership in space.” John F. Kennedy also gives us reasons to support manned space exploration and why it is important for America to be a leader in space exploration. He says, “I think the United States should be a leader. A country as rich and powerful as this which bears so many burdens and responsibilities, which has so many opportunities, should be second to none.”
Others think that space exploration is not important. Kennedy and Vernikos both disagree with this statement. Vernikos describes why space exploration is important and beneficial. She says in her essay that, “studying astronauts in the micro-gravity of space has been the only means of understanding how gravity affects human development and health here on Earth.” Kennedy also explains how space research is going to help us and make our lives better when he by saying “nothing makes this clearer than the fact that medicine in space is going to make our lives healthier and happier here on
