However, the characters in both books share the same demeanor to represent the natural of the human instinct. The bizarre resembles between the behavior of the characters in the books is what inspired me to create a visual art piece. I believe that visual pieces provoke an in-depth meaning of the arguments discussed because, they allows the audience to connect with the portrait , hence, gaining a deeper understanding and a personal connection. I presented the themes in my visual piece through symbolic objects that tell a different story when they are viewed from different perspectives. In the visual art piece the components, colors, and words were carefully chosen and used in order to provide a deeper understanding of the themes.The process of the organization in the project was challenging, yet interesting, in which it allowed the mind to think critically in order to create a visual art piece that carries all the components that represent the two books.
The autobiography “A Long Walk to Freedom” and the novella “Of Mice and Men” differed in multiple components that shape the identity of the books, like the published time frame, the ethnicity of characters, and the social classes of the characters, yet, they represented the same ideas that define humanity. The theme of betrayal was represented through the striped background, by which the striped background was outside the mirror of friendship and loyalty as a result of a broken promise. The brown and orange stripes symbolize the african culture, in which Nelson Mandela in the book “A Long Walk to Freedom” was disloyal to the african by choosing to use his English name ‘Nelson” rather than his African name ‘Rolihlahla’ which demonstrates that he identifies as English delegate rather than a South African citizen.
