In one of Ray Bradbury 's best sellers, Something Wicked This Way Comes, he combines a few things people fear in real life as well as dark fiction. I chose this particular book because I enjoy the darker stories and occasional horror movie. With the upcoming Halloween day, I couldn’t have picked a more appropriate book. This story focuses on two teenage boys and an adult, all of which are preoccupied with their ages. Jim and Will are teenage boys who want to be more mature and older.…
In his younger days, Ray Bradbury stayed in his mother’s womb longer than expected; therefore, he developed his sight and hearing and remembers coming out. He believes by this happening he is a lot more intelligent than everyone else. (Weller 12). Bradbury grew up simple, his favorite activity was going outside and running freely in the woods then writing about his experiences.…
Section one: Characterization The dust witch can be seen as having a wicked behavior and has an attitude shift throughout the novel, Something Wicked This Way Comes. The Dust Witch can be seen having wicked behavior, and then having an attitude shift to weak when the author says, “Charles Halloway giggled. Why? The witch pulled back the merest quarter inch as if some strange but hidden electric socket, touched with wet whirl, gave shock.”…
Fear; the Destroyer Fear leads corrupt powers to alienate what one would call society. In Nazi Germany, the Jews feared Adolf Hitler who sought to destroy all people who followed the religion. Hitler notioned that the Jews destroyed Germany, which left them in mass poverty and hysteria. Therefore, witches from The Crucible in The Salem Witch Trials is another example of this. Abigail Williams, dancing in the woods, is unearthed at the wrong time by the wrong man, and to spite people who accused her of witchcraft, she conned people that other witches are roaming in Salem.…
Abigail started saying there was a little yellow bird flying around the room. She said it was the work of Mary. Their religion is very strict, you come to church every sunday, don't work on the sabbath, and you believe the ministers word like it’s the words of god himself. Anything they have done to go against this would make them look like a witch if they was accused by people of the town. When accused most of them are asked to say the 10 commandments and if they can’t say them then they are said to be a witch. The punishment for witchery if you confesses is to be beat severely, and if you don’t confesses then the punishment is to be hang or to be pressed until you confess.…

Imagine a society in history that is super-constructive. Conservative apparel. Religious oppression. This time period in American history describes the New England Puritan society during the 17th century. Church, social standing, and basic respect all went hand in hand wihin these societies.…
There are many characters in The Crucible by Arthur Miller that make the entire plot fall into place like magic. Abigail Williams, the niece of Reverend Parris, started rumors, an army of girls, and made accusations that turned the village of Salem upside-down. Abigail was a 17 year-old orphan whom was described as “strikingly beautiful” but outspoken. Several characters in The Crucible are very dynamic, none like Abigail Williams who changes between each act of the play; she makes sinless hands sinful, controls all of the girls in the village, kills many, and still manages to gets away in the end.…

In the movie of The Conjuring, it foreshadows a witch which is considered as a dark presence. In the movie, there is a new family of seven, five daughters and their pet dog that moves into an unfrequented farmhouse which took place in the '70s. Strange things have been happening to the house as well to the family, they call investigators to look at the house to find out why weird things have been happening.
