It is no question that drivers who speed within a school zone often consider themselves driving at a correct speed and not fast at all; however, their odometer tells a different story. It is imperative that drivers alter their perceptions for a school zone to be entirely safe. For this to be achieved, there have been numerous approaches conjured to correct this issue. One of these methods is in fact, officer-initiated speed limit enforcement. The primary purpose of the officer-initiated speed limit enforcement is to ticket speeders to reduce accidents and fatalities by creating speed limit compliance (Mears & Lindsey, 2015, p. 59).
