A vital bloody fingerprint found at the entrance of Nicole Brown’s house was never collected, nor secured, and was not entered into evidence when it was first located. During a shift change, the detectives who were taking over were not aware of the print and ultimately the print vanished or destroyed without ever being collected. In addition, there were other pieces of evidence that did not get collected or logged, so I think that it is fair to say that the victims got cheated because of sloppy forensic work at the scene of the crime. Furthermore, Nicole Brown’s body was shielded with a blanket that came from inside the house, which totally polluted any evidence that could be collected from the body as well as anything the blanket touched around the body. So, there were poor evidence gathering techniques, sloppy maneuvering at the scene because there were more bloody LAPD shoe prints at the scene than prints of the offender, which gave the appearance of forensic incompetence. Keep all traffic to a bare minimum to prevent contamination and lose of evidence. Only those individuals who have authority over the investigation of the crime, the securing of the crime scene, and the processing of the crime scene should be present. Notes should be taken because they are required in court and it is a detailed written description of the scene. The whole crime scene should be photographed and/or recorded including surrounding areas, walls, entrance, and exit.
