We`ve all heard the expression, “ a penny for your thoughts”; I would give my left arm to really know what my children were thinking. Today, I`m a carrier of the message and also a concerned parent who was able to get out of the situation but questions still remain. Have my babies seen too much and can I really give them the life that they need to try to repair the damages that they have seen? In this paper, I will try to express the importance of coming to grips to try to pick up their pieces and help them become happy and whole again. Each child that suffers through the fighting and abuse of parent on parent is slowly being robbed of their innocence and childhood. Instead of allowing our kids to watch or hear us hurt the people that we “love”, we need to show them that life is all about love and helping whoever we can along the way. As a child grows up in this atmosphere, it`s scary to imagine how those moments will affect the outcome of his/her life. Some kids are more resilient than others but if life at home is chaotic, it seems that they get used to it and become chaotic also. This is a domino effect that is devastating our kids today. From behavioral problems to emotional issues, as adults, depression sneaks in also. We are products of our environments and if adults can`t have a conversation with one another without fighting, what kind of chance are our children going to have in this fast-paced world
