The hidden home survived the with by the ancestor Utanapishtim was known as his wife, the hidden house has survived a massive worldwide flood. His wife Utanapistim tells him the story about the flood and how it happened and how it was similar to the biblical story that is found in Genesis. By having the story of Genesis it allows the context of Genesis poem to be complex with life and death itself. As Gilgamesh tells Utanapistim his story about everything that has happened in his life so far, she then gives him a plant that will make Gilgamesh become immortal. But needless to say on his way home the plant was taken from Gilgamesh and then returns back home to Uruk with nothing new in his life (pg. 30).
Readers have been hooked to this epic poem since the ancient decades, but everyone has their own understanding of how it should be understood. Many of the readers from the nineteenth century thought the work was about a historical event that happened during their time. But readers today focus on the poem as an amazing masterpiece rather than an event that happened centuries ago (pg 31).
