Residency is a stage of graduate medical training. A resident or house officer is a physician who practices medicine usually in a hospital. Physician training in the United States, require four years of residency training for board eligibility certification in anesthesiology. Which usually includes, one year of general medical, pediatric, or surgical training followed by three years of clinical anesthesiology training under the eyes of experienced anesthesiologists. After residency many anesthesiologist take an extra fellowship year of subspeciality training in areas like pain management, cardiac anesthesiology, pediatric anesthesiology, neuro-anesthesiology, obstetric anesthesiology, or critical care medicine. After successfully completing the residency program in anesthesiology, the residents are eligible to sit for the American Board of Anesthesiology. Almost 75 percent of anesthesiologists are board certified, meaning they have passed all the oral and written tests. All anesthesiologists must be licensed to practice medicine in their state. That’s a lot of money to start out a career. I plan to get this job because I have always wanted to become a anesthesiologist since my aunt, Shadow, decided to go to nursing school six years ago. It all started one night, at my grandma’s house and Shadow was there doing her nursing school homework, and she asked me to help her with an quiz when she submitted it I could not believe my eyes, with my help, she made an 100% on that quiz and that’s when I knew that was what I wanted to do. She was so excited, that the next time I was over at my nana’s house, she asked me to help her with some homework. We had to find an medicine, write the clinical name for that medicine, and then explain what it is used for and how it worked. It was really hard, because I had no idea how to spell some of the medicines we had to define and she tried to have me find them in her medicine handbook, and that did not go so well. She had to explain to me the names, and what they meant. She eventually got done and we took an chapter test. It was really hard for the both of us, and I did not think that we were going to make an very good grade, but we made an 93% and we were so excited that we actually had an miniature party in her room, we had miniature cupcakes, and we had a couple of cokes, but I really had fun with my aunt, Shadow, and that does not happen very often because we usually do not get
