Summary of Chapter 1

Main idea- Animals are dissatisfied by the way of human beings.
Sub-idea- Man inflict atrocities.
Summary- after Mr. Jones fell asleep, all of the animals decided to gather at the desire of Old Major a 12 year old Pig. The old major started his speech by thanking everyone for coming, he awakened them to the atrocities inflicted by the human beings on the animals.
After detailing about the various ways in which Man has harmed the animals. He dispense the dream with them and shared his vision of earth without human beings.

Building the windmill is a hard task and boxer proves himself to be model of dedication, will power and strength.
Napoleon also proposes that Animal farm will begin to do business with the neighboring farms. He even appoints Mr. Whimper to act as his agent. Other people begin to discuss that windmill will collapse and Animal farm will go bankrupt.
Mr. Jones finally gives up attempts at retaking the farm and moves to another part of the country. The Pigs start sleeping in the farm house on the beds which squealer excuses that they (Pigs) need rest after running of the farm every day.
That November, a tempest topples the half-completed windmill. Napoleon convinces the animals that Snowball is responsible for the Collapse and puts a prize money for any animal whosever will bring Snowball back Dead or Alive.
