Roughly twenty-six million animals are used for different types of testing in the United States every year (Animal Testing - Procon.org). These tests range from developing medical treatments, determining the toxicity of medications, checking the safety of products that will be used by humans, to healthcare and commercial uses (Animal Testing - Procon.org).
