It enhances self-knowledge and tolerance towards others. MBTI is also effective in the building of efficient teams. Teams are able to work more closely together because the group members recognize the similarities and differences in communication styles and how each group member desires to work. In the counselling aspect, MBTI also assists in identifying the types of therapies to use on the different types of personalities; this is extremely helpful when it comes to relationship counselling.
• CRITICS
According to a news article written by Burnett in The Guardian, the MBTI, being a popular and accepted tool, seemingly lacks scientific credibility. Firstly the MBTI was created by 2 non-scientists, Myers and Briggs who had no scientific trainings in the area of psychometric testing (Burnett, 2013).

Studies have shown that the MBTI test-retest reliability varies according to the sample group and time breaks (Quenk, 2000). An example would be the effect of our current environmental factors. If we take the test when we are undergoing stress, our mood would probably affect our results and definitely differ if we were to take the test on another day, in a good mood (Gregory, 2011).
