Chap 24 summary There was a big transformation in Europe between 1500 and 1800. It went from being a sub region to becoming a powerful force. There were also a lot of changes that occurred internally and also these changes empowered the western nations of Europe to presume preeminence. This transformation occurred together and in many levels There was a religious transformation as well when Europe was transforming. The Protestant Transformation was brought to life by Martin Luther in 1517 and was located in Germany. This Reformation challenged the Roman Catholic Church and its monopoly. “Martin Luther attacked the sale of indulgences as an individual, but he soon attracted enthusiastic support from others who resents the policies of the Roman Church. “ (Traditions & Encounters 632) Martin Luther was someone who did not agree with something that was going on and brought it to light. I really liked this because there’s so many things that are not okay and people don’t speak up because of fear but Martin Luther spoke up even to a the powerful Roman Church. A lot of powerful nation states evolved with institutions and resources advance with interests abroad. At the same time political power developed by the monarchies of France and Spain and also the monarchies of the Netherlands and England. “All the new monarchs sought to enhance their treasures by developing new sources of finance.” (Traditions & Encounters 639) It seems like all the new monarchies wanted to grow what they already had and they tried to find new sources of finance so this shows me that the monarchies wanted to have complete power over things and this is where things could go downhill people could be very greedy and selfish if a dispute goes on over their treasures growing it could not end so
