Adaptation is a noun. Also a change or the process of change of that an organism can best suit the environment lived in.
A: Desert, Its hot and very dry. Less than 10 inches or rain. Quite a bit of direct sunlight. Soil is rocky and sandy which means it is unable to hold much water. Winds are usually very strong which means it drys out the plants. Plants are exposed to very hot and no water. B: Grassland, or prairie have very warm summers and chilly winters. Not much rainfall and drought is very common. The grasslands usually receive about 10 to 30 inches of rain per year. Many trees have needle like leaves because they lose less water and sheds snows easier. Waxy coating on the needles prevent evaporation. Needles are darker in color to increase solar heat. A lot of the trees have droopy branches to help shed excess snow to keep the branches from snapping. g: Tundra plants are small and low growing because of the lack of nutrients also being close to the ground to keep them from freezing. Plants are dark in color because of solar warmth. Some plants are covered with hair to help keep them warm. Another form plants grow are in clumps to protect each other from the wind and cold. Some plants have flowers that follow the sun to get more heat on the center to keep the plant warm. h: The leaves under the water are flexible to move with the current of the water. Some of the plants have air spaces in their stem to hold the plant up in the water. Nutrients are absorbed through leaves directly from the water it is in. Roots are only used for staying still and not being able to move. Some plants have leaves floating on top of the water to expose themselves to sunlight and that creates chlorophyll which is only the upper part of the leaves that are waxy and repel water. Some plants create seeds that can float.
