Knowing where we live and make our decisions accordingly will show its benefits. Weather, natural disasters, agricultural geology, etc. these features make us design differently for each environment. Such as; houses ın Bodrum, Turkey are famous for being white. Because of the high temperature, architects designed these houses white and made of rocks. White reflects sunlight and heat more than dark colors and rocks would get warm harder than wood or some other material. This provides them to have less warm homes. Another example is from Japan; in Japan, they have 1000 earthquakes per year. These natural disasters pushed the government to make few strict laws about engineering and architecture. According to a scientific view, as reported in Milliyet Newspaper, Japanese architects design flexible tall buildings. This avoids the building to collapse or break. And also for short buildings they invented a system. This system basically holds the building with giant hooks. At the time of the earthquake, building moves with the ground. This again avoids it to break. These examples show us how essential it is to adapt our structures as per nature …show more content…
Just as beavers constructing their own homes as damns, ants digging their household in soil, bird making their nest with brushwood and so on. This shows us that nature tries to design organic means. As we consider humankind as an animal we should take a lesson from nature. Destroying lands and cutting trees shouldn’t be a method.
Nevertheless most people think that we should avoid deforestation when we build. This is not only destroying the habitats of animals but also decreasing our oxygen. According to National Geographic’s website deforestation causes a huge climate change and this brings us to global warming. The soil is moist and trees protect it, without this natural protection it can quickly dry out. So without trees, forestlands can quickly become deserts. In the article by Luis Bentancor named Deforestation & Architecture he gives certain measures can be taken before we build, and one of them is “When new buildings or urbanizations are designed, adapt the design to the existing trees and include them in the new project, instead of cutting them and totally clean the terrain.” This is a perfect advice for architects. Normally they design buildings without interpreting the place but as Luis Bentanor said we must include every single feature of the land. Every detail is important when it comes to
