Historically, the intent was that the alcohol industry would collapse and everything else would continuously raise. However, the complete opposite occurred. Many jobs were lost and thousands of deaths resulted from drinking toxic bootleg drinks.(History.com staff, 2010) Being that it was not actually illegal to drink, the citizens were still finding ways to maintain their fix for these wonderful beverages. Alcoholic beverages gross billions annually which in turn create jobs and assists in our economic growth as a country. It affects me in a not so healthy aspect as I thoroughly enjoy having a few drinks and relaxing. As an adult, provided it doesn’t cause me to do any illegal activities, I should have the right to drink. There are warnings on the bottles nowadays of the overall effects of alcohol abuse.
