What is an Aroma Therapy massage?
An Aroma therapy massage is one of the many types of therapeutic massages that incorporate essential oils (calming scents) to help relax the muscles throughout your body.
Aroma therapy allows you to relax with calming scents. Common scents that I have used in some of these therapeutic massages have been lavender or rosemary mint. There are also scents that are very helpful to the body. These essential oils are not only in the air for you to smell, but they also soak into your skin and muscles and assist in helping release any tension within.

When it is blended well, you can begin your massage. I usually start my client face up but you can do whatever your preference is. Put some lotion in your palms and rub them together. Cup your hands just above the client’s nose and mouth, about 1-2 inches away from the face. Have them take deep breaths, about 3 is good. This will allow them to inhale the aroma and help them to relax. Use the lotion to massage the arms, legs and feet. When you are done massaging the front of the body, have the client roll over on their stomach. Grab the hot towel, testing it on your forearms before placing it on the client’s back to make sure it is not too hot. Do compressions on the back with the towel still on. Compressions are basically pushing down in multiple areas to help bring blood to those areas. Massage the entire backside of the body including legs. When you are finished massaging, take some lotion in your palms again and rub them together. Place hands cupped under the client’s nose and face, about 1-2 inches again. Have the client breathe in deep 3 more time. You have completed an aroma therapy massage.
It is important to understand that massage is extremely healthy for the body but aroma therapy can be even more helpful. There are so many options on enhancements you could add to a massage depending on what you want to get out it. It can help reduce stress
