Not to say that all arranged marriages end up tragic, but there have been many that've been a recipe for disaster. In many arranged marriages you see signs of abuse whether it be physical or verbal. In the middle east only in recent years have more girls started to get there educations. If your husband is telling you to stop going to school and take care of the house, that's almost like a slap in the face. I am a firm believer in equality in the sense where women should be able to do anything men can do. Unfortunately in Afghanistan and in that part of the world, they tend to look at it a little differently. In Afghanistan women do not have the same rights as men. It's the mentality of the people. Afghanistan was under control of the taliban for many years which made the rules and regulations for women much stricter. At the time period many women who were employed with respectable jobs were forced to quit their jobs and some even went into prostitution to support themselves. Nowadays in Afghanistan you see more women working but they can only work if their male relatives permit
