In another occasion, in the case of high school students, both sexes will form small groups or clicks which mostly included individuals with common interests (cheerleaders, football players, etc.). Others (typically junior and senior high school students) sometime used the nearby burger place as their habitual meeting place. It was also observed that black students spend time mostly with same race students. Occasionally, one or two Hispanic individuals would be included as well as part of the group. Adolescence is an experience of creation, where an individual form its own identity. In that same light, we can now see that the frequentation of common places by young people in terms of experimentation could be a big contributor to both their individuation and socialization. Thus, one can conclude that age is a big factor in how much autonomy an adolescent is given. As one continue to grow up, more freedom is offer also in contingence with the parenting style. It is known that authoritative parents are more understanding and give more freedom to their children than authoritarian parents. During our observations, especially in the convenient store and at the mall, both parents could be placed in the category of being authoritative parents. This is because even though they were assisting their children with their purchases, they still in some degree gave the power to voice their opinions.
