In the story “Yaga and the Kid” a little boy is warned by the tomcat and sparrow that watch over him that if Baba Yaga come to count their spoons that he should leave her be, but that’s not what the boy does. Three times Baba Yaga comes and three times the boy yells at Yaga to quit what she is doing but only two times does the tomcat and sparrow come to his rescue. On Yaga’s third visit she successfully kidnaps the boy. Back at her hut Yaga tries to cook the boy in her oven four times but the boy outwits Yaga and her daughters each time and kills them in the process, (Skoro, 9-13). He is able to transform into a falcon and he visits her every night. The young girls evil older sisters decided to drive Finist away by hiding knives on the windowsill. When Finist flew by he cut his leg and decided to never return. The young girl knew her sister had become envious of her so she went on a journey to find her love with the blessing of her father. On her journey the young girl met three Baba Yagas, all sisters. Each Baba Yaga gave her information on Finist and gave her items to aid her on her journey. The Yagas informed the girl that her prince was to going to married by the time she reached his kingdom thus each item was meant to bribe Finist’s new bride into allowing the young girl to visit with Finist and three times was she allowed to see her love. On the first two visits the Princess put a sleeping pin in his hair that caused him to sleep soundly, but the last visit the young girl removed the pin and Finist awoke to see his love looking down upon him. Finist asked the people of his kingdom whom he should spend his life with and the citizens chose the young girl, (19-27).
