Around the late 1750s, Benjamin became acquainted with politics. In 1775, he became a Colonial Representative of four states. In 1765, Franklin was caught by surprise by America’s overwhelming opposition to the Stamp Act. The testimony he gave helped persuade members to repeal the law. He proposed a new plan for united colonies in 1754. In 1756, he organized the Pennsylvania militia and became a member of the Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufactures & Commerce. Benjamin Franklin was sent to England to protest against the Penn family which were the proprietors of the colony in 1757. Later in his years, Benjamin got a hold of some letters, “an abridgment of what are called English liberties” and sent them to America. After Franklin was condemned he returned home to work actively for Independence. Franklin was elected Second Continental Congress and worked with five others to draft the Declaration of Independence. Benjamin Franklin contributed the most to the Declaration of Independence. In 1776 Franklin signed the Declaration, and sailed to France as an ambassador to the Court of Louis XVI. While in France he helped secure loans and persuade the French. After the Americans won the Revolution in 1783, Franklin was on hand to sign the Treaty of Paris. He was the most outstanding founding fathers during his time. He gave the citizens peace, he gave them hope, and gave them the right to live their lives again. He traveled all around to help retrieve and resolve problems in a nation. Benjamin started off with nothing, he ran away, and even became famous on his own. He had the courage to make a change for our Americans and contribute too many things in society. Not only did he received the name “a harmonious human multitude”, but he left a
