Chosen by the prime minister from the caucus of the government, there are various positions to fill in addition to being a member of Parliament. Contributing to the control of the prime minister, “they have complete control over who is appointed to these positions” when staffing the government. As the most coveted position in the executive chamber, next to being the prime minister, cabinet ministers are responsible for their corresponding ministry. There are also lower level ministers, known as ministers of state, who aid with the affairs of the Cabinet ministers. Lastly are parliamentary secretaries who are there to help guide the ministers. What they all share in common is that they are selected solely by the prime minister, and there is no limit on the amount of staff that can be chosen.
