Since the anatomical structure and physiological processes of a rat’s body are similar to that of a human, thus rats are most used animals when it comes to trying some new experiment. One such experiment called sexual dimorphism which can be defined as sexual differentiation of brain’s structure was proved to be true using rats. A British-American neuroscientist, Simon LeVay, who is also renowned for his studies about brain structures, conducted this experimented as he describes it in his article ‘Evidence for a Biological Influence in Male Homosexuality’ published in the ‘Scientific American:’ “HYPOTHALAMUS…was examined for differences related to sexual orientation…The cell group termed…was more than twice as large in the men as it was in the women. INAH also turned out to be two to three times larger in straight men than it was in gay men…This finding suggests a difference related to male sexual orientation about as great as that related to sex” (46). So the study found that a particular region of the brain of a straight male is larger than that of a female while that of gay men falls in the middle. Therefore, the trends in sexual dimorphism actually proved that homosexuality does exist and it is biological, thus can’t be denied or said to be a personal
