Number Fifteen: Tom DeLonge Left the Band …show more content…
During Blink 182’s hiatus, all three members of the band kept busy. Hoppus and Barker started another band called +44, which released one album, When Your Heart Stops Beating, in 2006. Hoppus also continued to produce albums for other bands, including Motion City Soundtrack second and most popular album, Commit This to Memory. Besides his collaboration with DJ AM, Barker also played drums for The Transplants, featuring Rancid’s Tim Armstrong on vocals. Tom DeLonge went on to form Angels & Airwaves in 2005 with Nine Inch Nails drummer Ilan Rubin.
Number Ten: Barker is Not the Band’s Original Drummer. The man behind the drums on Blink 182’s first two albums, Cheshire Cat (1995) and Dude Ranch (1997), was Scott Raynor. Following an argument during a winter tour, Raynor left the band and they took on Barker, who was playing with ska-punk superheroes The Aquabats at the time. Barker’s first album with Blink 182 was 1999’s Enema of the State.
Number Nine: They Don’t Take Themselves Seriously. At least not in their music videos, anyway. Blink 182’s video for “What’s My Age Again” features the band running around a town completely naked, and their video for “All the Small Things” parodies almost every pop video put out in 1998, including their own “What’s My Age Again.” Watch out for part two of our list of 15 interesting facts about Blink 182, coming
