In the article “Health and Health Care Disparities: The Effect of Social and Environmental Factors on Individual and Population Health” (2014) factors such as living closely to environmental hazards and the outcomes of more diseases (Thomas, 2014). “Health and Health Care Disparities: The Effect of Social and Environmental Factors on Individual and Population Health” (2014) evaluates the health care disparities that affect the health of the minorities: African Americans, Hispanics/Latinos, Native Americans, and Pacific Islanders (Thomas, 2014). The poor outcomes that occur due to these disparities are also analyzed. This health deterioration can be combated by incorporating healthy habits, including eating and physical, throughout the aging process. According to Selivanova and Cramm (2014) “a healthy lifestyle can contribute to healthy aging, which in turn decreases healthcare demand” (Selivanova & Cramm, 2014, p. 4).
