The Outsiders is a great story by S.E. Henton. This book will make you cheer, cry, laugh, and happy. The Outsiders takes place in the year 1965 and follows a young, 14 year old boy named Ponyboy Curtis. Pony lives with his two brothers Dary and Sodapop curtis. The boys live together by themselves after their parents are in a fatal car accident. Taken care by the oldest witch is Dary. With the odd living style the boys reach out and they find more family with a local greaser gang.
The gang consist of Two-bit Mathews, Dally Winston, Johnny Cake, Steve (last name not given) and Randal (last game not given).
After a good night of going to the movies with Johnny and Dally, Pony and Johnny are walking home under the stars when they decide to lay down in a vacant lot to look at the stars. Unknowingly falling asleep Pony wakes up and yells for Johnny, As Ponny runs home in the cold night not knowing the time he reaches the front of the house with Dary waiting for him. Pony and Dary argue and scream at eachother for a while. Out of anger dary slapps pony right across the face. Feeling angry Pony ran away. Thus causing a huge turn of events. Pony goes to the park to cool down, they get jumped by some hoods. …show more content…
With the help of Dally they flee to the country, big events happen that consist of a burning of a church, a huge fight between two gangs, and the death of someone close to Ponny. And that barely scratches the surface of the excitement in S.E. Hentons the Outsiders.
I extremely recommend this book because it is easily able to relate to, a kid making adult choices. You never want to put this book down. You always want to see what is on the next
