In the article Michael Thompson writes about the time he was traveling on a plane and that he was sitting next to a seventeen-year-old, which was going on a canoeing trip the next day. The young man and nine others will travel through lakes, rivers rapids and travel on land through mud, and mosquitoes biting them all over. This trip that is six hundred miles will take them to Hudson Bay. The young man and his friends studied for four years at a camp to learn wilderness skills. The young men will take their own food and take a lot of risks to see the Northern Lights and a settlement called Inuit. All this will be the test for the seventeen-year-old journey from boyhood to manhood. Michael Thompson feels that every boy is searching for this one such test to transform to boyhood to manhood. I agree with Michael Thompson one hundred percent. I do feel everybody wants a test to become a man; as do I I want to test myself to become a man. In a way this college essay is a test to become a man. I might never have an experience like that seventeen-year-old but I do see it happen at times. An example of this, I once seen a TV show which a seven year-old on Survivor man. On the show Les Stroud and his son had to survive in the wilderness. They had no camera crew or no help. They had to survive alone for seven days. The show had them traveling together to make it to the safety point. On the show Les Stroud and his son made a shelter and killed animals for food. I feel this was a test for Les Stroud’s son to transform from boyhood to manhood. In the end they both survived and they show ended. This example proves Michael Thompson and my feelings. I hope you learned a lot and decide to read the full article yourself at
