The two most influential figures that have affected my life, are Walt Disney and Louis Zamperini. They have both taught me that I can get through any hardship which life throws my way by persevering and instilling hope throughout my being. Walt Disney had to overcome obstacles to see his hard work come to life and has influenced me to keep moving forward because just as in Walt Disney’s life, I will hurdle over my obstacles and succeed. I want to be able to see my ideas turn into reality, even though it will take time, I know that it will be worth it in the end. Although Walt’s life was like a roller coaster, one minute he was at the top, the next he was at the bottom, I can only wish I will get back to the top no matter how big the drop.…
“With No Direction Home: Homeless Youth on the Road and in the Streets.” focuses on the life and culture of homeless youth in New York City, especially Tompkins Square Park. The book uses ethnographic research to study the elusive lifestyle of “street kids.” The book examines the lives of the kids before and after they move onto the streets. According to Kottak, “ Anthropology explores human diversity across time and space, seeking to understand as much as possible about the human condition.” This study does that in spades.…
Walt Disney Imagine that you are driving to the coast through Anaheim, California. All of a sudden, you see tall, fast, rollercoasters housed in mountains, crowds of people waiting in line, busses parked everywhere, and hotels circling the park. You think to yourself, “Who invented this attraction? Why did they do it?”…
Walt Disney had an attitude that is very rare. It was an attitude that sets apart the mediocre from the majestic. It is called the success attitude. “Think, believe, dream and dare.” (Sinclair, 2011), these success attitudes don’t arrive when you are successful but when you are in the midst of your failures.…
Walt Disney had a vision. He imagined an amusement park where children and their parents could enjoy rides and have fun together. But, when he was in an amusement park in the early twentieth century, he noticed that there were only random assortments of roller coasters, and how sanitation wasn't the greatest importance. Walt wanted a place where children and families could have fun together in a clean, orderly and fun way, and at an affordable price. He knew exactly what he wanted, and it would be called Disneyland.…
Here at Homeward, we offer superb health care along with shelter. Compared to any other hospital we have the easiest process for our veterans, all they have to do is, show their veterans ID, make a payment if possible, have a health evaluation, have to be willing to help themselves. Veterans who have insurance or can pay a monthly fee can have treatment of their choice. Veterans who do not have insurance or cannot pay are helped by the Emergency Medical Treatment and The Active Labor Act, same as other hospitals, or by our board of directors and shareholders pockets. The Emergency Medical Treatment Active Labor Act requires hospitals to treat patients regardless of their ability to pay, citizenship, or even legal status.…
A refugee is someone who is forced to flee their home country due to war, prosecution, natural disaster, or any other reason that made them leave. Some universal experiences they have to go though are learning the language, finding somewhere to stay, and eventually getting used to a new life with the help of others. It is a long process, but almost all refugees are able to finally get back into the daily grind and adjust to their new lifestyle at some point. Ha and her family came from South Vietnam, but had to flee due to the war coming closer and closer. She had a happy life in Saigon, even though her father was captured when she was little, but when the war came close, she couldn’t do the things she loved anymore.…
Il walked in on Sheridan and Sue whining about Bec not being at work. Carter was sick at the time. Sheridan has had days off to take her boyfriend to appointments! Sheridan will often leave working after school care even though she is supposed to stay until 5:45, leaving no one in charge. Sue told me that at her last OSHC, the Director did nothing when she came back from maternity leave and she had to do all the work.…
Of course we all have heard of Walt Disney and the many theme parks he has in his name around the world. I want you to think of a world however without Disneyland. Scary right? Well this “Disneyland-lacking” world would have been a reality if it wasn’t for his brother Roy Disney, who took care all of financial side of the Walt Disney Company in its early years. After personally being a cast member at Walt Disney World, I have always been inspired to teach people about the history of the Walt Disney Company.…
1. Figure 4.3, Going Home by Jacob Lawrence. This piece was created in 1946, and was painted with gouache, which is an opaque type of watercolor. I personally did not like this piece, I’m not a fan of the medium used, but nevertheless I found it interesting. In my opinion, the low value and intensity of the yellows and greens are unappealing, I think they make this train or bus seem outdated and old, or just dirty.…
Hayden and Enzo skip to the food court to get their favorite cinnamon rolls from Cinnabon. Alissa opts out, as she does not want to get full before Drew’s homemade dinner tonight. After spending two hours in the mall, they make their way towards the exit. Upon reaching the parking garage, the overhead streetlights begin to turn on as nightfall sets. Alissa pays for two hours of parking and the trip home should be short, as much of the traffic has died down.…

Tom Peters said “Management is about arranging and telling. Leadership is about nurturing and enhancing.” This essay will analyze and evaluate Disney Company’s management structure and leadership style and compare with the quote. Management means that managers achieve goals in a way that makes the best use of all resources. The functions of management are planning, organizing, controlling and directing.…
Leaders have to be able to create a vision and lead their team in achieving that vision. Our activity was to create a plan to solve unsafe working conditions in third-world countries. Our team consisted of two students from UT-Austin and one international student from Mexico. Through this exercise, I learned leaders need to know when to adjust their message to their target audience. As I was expressing my ideas to the team, I was rushing through my speaking and ignoring the needs of my team members.…
