Workplace harassment has become a point of emphasis from an ethical standpoint over the past twenty years. One thing that most leaders will agree about is that all employees deserve a harassment and hostile free work environment. Most full time Employees spend at least 40 hours at work per week and being in a hostile environment can do psychological and sometimes even physical harm to the impacted employee. One cause of workplace harassment that leaders must look to neutralize is the work environment itself. Leaders own work environment and must ensure that the environment is free of items or situations that will knowingly lead to harassment. From an ethical standpoint leaders also have a responsibility to deal quickly with all instances of reported or even suspected harassment. There have been instances where harassment claims have been brushed off and not taken seriously and has led to disastrous results. All forms or harassment have negative impact on employees. Poor job attitudes and negative job-related are examples of the negative impact that harassment has on employees (Raver & Nishii, 2010). There are two types of job satisfaction that every organization must be prepared to deal with. Intrinsic and extrinsic factors impact a employees’ happiness at work. Intrinsic factors are made up of what a person does in the job itself while extrinsic job factors are more related to the working conditions that the job is performed in. In fact, intrinsic factors also known as hygiene factors deal with external factors of the job such as remuneration, working atmosphere and the prestige of the job (Mafini & Dlodlo, 2014). From an ethical standpoint leaders must work to ensure that employees are happy with the extrinsic job factors when possible. There have been many examples of large corporations benefiting from working having to work in sweat shops or environments that are viewed as inhumane. These environments are sometimes not located in the United States, which is where some of the ethical dilemma comes into play. Most people believe that organizations still have a responsibility to do the right thing ethically for people working for them in a different country. Just because sweatshops are not against the law in some 3rd world countries that does not make it ethical to employ people in these shops. Good organizations have a go beyond what is legal and they strive to do what is ethical for their
