Thank you for sharing your thoughts about the role of the health education to the stroke patients! Providing education to the public on how to decrease the chance of having a stroke is invaluable. There are modifiable risk factors such as eating healthy and regular exercise and non-modifiable factors such as our age and our family history that can contribute to a stroke. You cannot change your age or your family but there are stroke risk factors that you can regulate if you know what they are. Dreyer et al. (2014) states that the therapeutic strategies for stroke are centered on prevention and treatment of stroke. Primary and secondary prevention of stroke includes lifestyle modification and measures to control risk factors such as hypertension, cholesterol, diabetes, and atrial fibrillation (Dreyer et al., 2014).
