Steroids have many dangerous consequences, even more than you can imagine, they are becoming more common nowadays and are used by athletes to enhance their body performance to give them an advantage. Steroids are illegal, causes many health problems and it really shouldn’t be created. To reduce this problem, we to need to monitor the distributors of these substances.
Firstly, many steroids are illegal such as anabolic steroids. They are used by bodybuilders in order to increase muscle mass. Anabolic refers to as muscle building capability. There are also other different steroids that other athletes take such as sprinters. The steroids that would be illegal before a competition is Provigil (modafinil) and Cytomel (T3 or liothryoine) keeping in mind that these are just a few. These steroids are ones that, if an athlete get caught with then it could be considered illegal. If an athlete gets caught taking steroids, they would get a fine and could even be put into prison. Steroids are commonly taken through injections to the muscles. What people don’t know is that they are then vulnerable to diseases like HIV/ AIDs or hepatitis. Short term effects of anabolic steroids are: acne, trouble sleeping, decreased sperm count, restlessness or agitation and mood swings. Long term effects of steroid use are: shrinking of testicles for men, heart problems, elevated blood pressure, violent behaviour, liver damage and even heart failure.
