The Canadian system of governance meets the needs of citizens through the protection of minority rights. In the constitution, the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms states “Every individual is equal before and under the law”. Meaning that that no matter “race, national or ethnic origin, color, religion, sex, age or mental or physical disability” every individual is equal. Women and indigenous populations are a minority but are very well protected. In the constitution, there is a section that has all the rights that Canadians have. One of the rights Canadians have is mobility rights this means that any permanent resident of Canada can live anywhere, not only that, but any Canadian can take up work in any province or territory this right is guaranteed to all Canadians. Some other rights Canadians have are legal rights and minority language rights. Some of the legal rights, all Canadians have are the right to be protected against unreasonable search or seizure. Also, if charged for a crime to be tried within a reasonable amount of time, to be told swiftly what the exact offense is and not to be put through unusual punishment or treatment. Additionally, Canadians have minority language rights, they are rights that say that children have the right to be taught in primary and secondary schooling in both French and English. Meaning that a child who was taught In French in New Brunswick but moved to Alberta, where the language minority is French there, the child has the right to continue being taught in
