Using Functional Area Checklists from the Inspector General of the Marine Corps, his inspection team conducted six separate readiness inspections for the Major Subordinate Commands (MSC’s) of MARSOC, ensuring each unit’s ability to perform its mission within Medical, Dental, and Combat Operational Stress Control (COSC) areas of responsibility. He transitioned to the commands model of Third Location Decompression to the HLD model while increasing the resources available to service members and their families returning from deployment. Under the HLD program Captain Cota aligned resources facilitating holistic collaboration between performance, social workers, behavioral health, physical therapy and spiritual setting the families up for a successful reintegration period. Additionally, under the HLD program spouses are able to attend the briefings and classes their service members receive creating a sense of inclusion and family throughout the process. Furthermore, Captain Cota’s model for integrated care was recognized by The Medical Officer of the Marine Corps as a system-wide “best
