ASSIGNMENT:
1. Construct a management pyramid in written format to illustrate levels of management and job titles associated with each level.
2. Describe (explain!) the types of decisions each level of management is responsible for.
Starting with top management, these managers are responsible for setting the vision for the company. Their focus is on the long-term through developing goals and making plans to achieve these goals. Identify the three broad managerial roles AND list the types of roles included in each.
The first broad managerial role is Interpersonal. There are three types of Interpersonal roles which include the Figurehead role, Leadership role, and Liaison role. The second broad managerial role is Informational. Types of Informational roles consist of Monitor role, Disseminator role, and Spokesperson role. Thirdly, managers have a Decisional role which can be broken down into four types. These are the Entrepreneur role, the Disturbance Handler role, the Resource Allocator role, and the Negotiator role.
6. Choose one of the broad managerial roles from #5 AND give an example of how a current or former supervisor fulfilled his/her role in this area.
When I was a volunteering to serve a meal at a local homeless shelter, the supervisor in charge assigned me to serve the dessert. She also assigned me to oversee two little girls who were also volunteering pass out the rolls. My supervisor was fulfilling the Decisional role. She decided who would serve what and assigned each person their task. During the course of serving the meal, the supervisor made the decision to serve smaller portions of certain dishes that were running low in quantity. This was also within her Decisional role as supervisor. The whole meal went smoothly with everyone getting enough food. By evaluating the situation, solving problems, and allocating resources my supervisor fulfilled her Decisional role
