There are many cases but one specific case Pesta says “a young man in Maine named William Elliott, on the registry for sleeping with his 15-year-old girlfriend when was 19… was murdered in 2006 by a vigilante.” (Pesta). Incidents like that should not happen the state needs to prevent that from happening. The young man may have broken the law but he didn’t deserve to die like with Rodriguez case the sex was most likely mutual which meant they both gave their consent to each other. The law needs to be change where you could still warn people about sex offenders, but at the same time protect them from any harm. At the end of the day nobody deserves to die from someone getting revenge.
The sex offender law should be changed for people who have the same situation as Rodriguez. The state law needs to know what to do with the different predator or mutual sex cases. The sex offender law is a big thing that could ruin innocent peoples life’s, but lots of people are in favor with that law, because at the end of the day it protects you and warns you from predators that could live in your neighborhood. Overall they need to have a better understanding before changing
