History of Catholicism
The term ‘catholic’ means universal. Jesus established one universal church for all of mankind. When Peter declared that Jesus is the Messiah regarding to Jesus’ questions, such as “Who do people say the Son of Man is?” and “Who do you say I am?”, Jesus assigned Simon Peter as the first Pope and Jesus formed the Catholic Church. Jesus replied;
Matthew 16:17-19: “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but my Father in heaven. And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it. I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven.”
Jesus established the Catholic Church to teach, sanctify and govern. After the Resurrection, Jesus ordered his Apostles;

The commandments are handed down to Moses by God on Mount Sinai;
Exodus 24:12: “Come up to me on the mountain and stay here, and I will give you the tablets of stone with the law and commandments I have written for their instruction.”
The Ten Commandments of God are revealed in Exodus 20:1-17. The Greatest Commandment in the Law are commandments mentioned by Jesus which are important to every human morals and values;
Matthew 22:37-39: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind…And the second like it: Love your neighbour as yourself.”
Catholics believes that all humans are born with Original Sin. It was believed that Adam and Eve caused the Original Sin by disobeying God in the Garden of Eden. Baptism, the rite of becoming a Christian, only eliminates the Original Sin.
Catholic
