Firstly, there was the impact on the environment, which is still affecting the world today. Which the factories came the use of more harmful fossil fuels such as coal and oil. Then there was the problem of urbanization, there was a mass migration of people coming from the country to the cities and the cities did not have the infrastructure such as housing and sewage disposal to sustain the amount the of people that were coming in. This led to people living within close proximity of each other and this spread disease and led to other health issues and crowding. During this time there were groups of people that were exploited by the factory owners for cheap labor and long hours. Mainly the workers were the ones that were exploited, but others include children and women who had to start working to support their families. The women were exploited the most because of those that did work they were payed less than men were because it was assumed that the women had men or families to rely on for support. There was a dual sphere that was created with men being in the public light and the women roles was more private in regards to taking care of the home and the family. The women’s role was lessened in society until later in the 19th century we they began to organize and try to gain rights. Imperialism exploited Africans or slaves, by taking them from their homelands and forcing them to work.
