One of the many obstacles that people deal with is financial issues. There are families that barely have any money to pay for certain things. For example, I will not be receiving my financial aid until mid November. Even though I worked two jobs all summer, I am running low on money. Each week I have to think about if I should skip a meal in order to pay my rent, or if I should take the annual trip to the BPL Plasma Donation Center so I can keep my phone service on. When working in a predominantly male environment, women face numerous obstacles. For example, Hillary Clinton running for the office in the 2015 presidential campaign. Many people have voiced their opinions about her being “unfit” and “not capable” of serving as president because she is a woman. When Hillary Clinton speaks at many of her campaign stops, she always states the same quote, “I’m not asking for people to vote for me because I am a woman. I’m asking people to vote for me on the merits. I think one of the merits is that I am a woman, and I can bring those views and perspectives to the White House” (Clinton). Just like officer Nancy Taylor in the movie Conviction, she too faces obstacles by being the only woman in a male dominant enviroment. “You have no idea what it’s like being the only woman on the force” (Goldwyn). No matter what the occupation may be, many women have to face discrimination and issues when working with a majority of males. Although women are the victims of gender inequality, men also have to face challenges, rather it be in the workplace or the community. For instance, about two weeks ago my niece and I were at home talking about her upcoming divorce trial and we heard a knock at the door. It turned out to be my nephew in law, and he was there to try and take his daughter (my great-niece) away. Of course my niece was not going to allow him to take her because they had no visitation plans worked out yet legally and so she called the police. Before the police got there, my niece and I had sat down with Brian (her husband), and talked about the situation. Brian was calm throughout the entire conversation and said that he didn’t mean any harm. When the police got there, they immediately put Brian into handcuffs and put him in the cop car. My niece proceeded to tell them that detaining him was not necessary, and the police officer responded with, “he is
